Internal grooves and helical ridges for higher fluid-side heat transfer
Internally enhanced SpiralEdge™ tubes are designed to provide maximum heat transfer with minimum refrigerant-side pressure drop — delivering an inside heat transfer coefficient typically 2 to 3 times higher than smooth-bore tubes.
SpiralEdge™ Inner Fin Tubes (also called internally finned / internally enhanced / internally grooved tubes) feature a plain outer diameter with internal ridges. The groove geometry increases turbulence and internal surface area, improving heat transfer while helping maintain low pressure drop — ideal for direct expansion shell-and-tube liquid coolers (DX tubes / evaporator tubes).
These internally enhanced tubes are available in Copper UNS C12200 and 90/10 Cupro Nickel UNS C70600. Internally finned tube configurations can be produced with 50 to 70 internal ridges (and other geometries on request), depending on application and customer requirements.
