SpiralEdge™ Fin Tubes

Integral finned tube solutions with increased surface area for higher heat transfer

Tube Tech® manufactures integral fin tubes with superior dimensional control in Copper, Brass, Cupro Nickel, Stainless Steel & Carbon Steel tube materials for a wide variety of heat transfer applications.

SpiralEdge™ Fin Tubes are formed by a rolling process which raises fins in a continuous spiral on a straight length of tubing. This produces a fin tube with a greatly increased surface area of known dimensions which is completely integral. Tube Tech produces finned tubes from precision-made smooth tubes with superior dimensional control, in a wide variety of material combinations.

During the finning operation the inside diameter of the base tube is reduced and simultaneously helical fins are rolled out of the tube wall. A key advantage of this finning procedure is that the finning operation can be interrupted at any point of the tube — allowing plain ends and intermediate landings as required. These unfinned sections make it possible to support and fit finned tubes in shell-and-tube heat exchangers in the same way as plain tubes.

SpiralEdge™ also includes internally enhanced options (internal ridges/grooves) to significantly improve in-tube heat transfer, as well as specialised condenser and chiller tube geometries for demanding refrigeration and process applications.

Key Features

  • Integral helical fins formed by rolling — increased surface area, consistent geometry
  • Fin density capability across a wide range (typically 16 to 48 FPI, as applicable by type)
  • Available with or without internal ridges / grooves (for enhanced internal heat transfer)
  • Plain ends standard; intermediate landings can be provided on request
  • Finning operation can be interrupted at any point for mounting/support requirements
  • Produced in Copper, Brass, Cupro Nickel, Stainless Steel & Carbon Steel materials
  • Supplied in “as finned” condition; Brass/Cupro Nickel/Carbon Steel/Stainless Steel can be supplied in “annealed” temper upon request
  • Supplied with deburred / smooth ends
